In December I went on an apple detox for three days.
Benefits of Apples “The apple is our richest fruit source of vitamin E and also provides a good supply of biotin and folic acid – two B-complex vitamins important in preserving energy, emotional balance and in keeping your digestive system clean and functioning well. It is also a fine source of vitamins A and C, which are both natural antioxidants – powerful anti-agers – not to mention more than a dozen minerals including sulfur, potassium, iodine, silica, magnesium and calcium, and even essential amino acids in small quantities.” Not to mention is clarifies your skin and gives the radiance to your eyes!
Cinnamon! “One of cinnamon’s best detox properties is in heating up digestive fire and promoting healthy digestion. It also has a natural cleansing action that stops the growth of microbes and kills bacteria and fungi. It acts as a pain reliever as wells as strengthens and energizes tissue.”
Olive Oil “When you don’t eat any fat for days, your liver and gallbladder store up bile. When you flood your system with fat (olive oil) all at once like that - your gallbladder and liver release all the stored bile and push out the cholesterol stones that have formed.” It also lubricates the digestive tract!
Why? I was struggling with a sudden influx of mood swings, poor diet (carbs, carbs, carbs), and lack of mental clarity. I knew that I needed to get my diet back on track and the first thing I wanted to do was clear my system.
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Peeled (skin is harsh), organic apples. As much as you want. But make sure it’s ORGANIC.
- Drink SPRING water. I got a gallon of spring water and drank it warm.
- Organic cinnamon! I rolled most of all my apples in this!
- Two tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil! Not as bad as it sounds…trust me.
Day One The first day I was at work for 7 hrs, but it didn’t overexert my body. By the end of the night I felt very loopy. The loopiness felt like a body high! It was fairly easy to get through the first 24hrs with hardly any struggle.
Day Two This was a bit of a struggle. I was traveling on an airplane and had very bad sleep. I craved anything but apples but pushed myself. I drank more water and went to bed earlier. At some points I felt very light headed and grumpy. Before I went to bed I felt that body high again.
Day Three The hunger for something other than apples yielded and began to feel euphoric. I gulped the olive oil down!
Results I gained an incredible boost of mental clarity, focus, and happiness. My body felt euphoric and I lost 5 pounds after the process. What’s even more strange is that before the detox I couldn’t eat raw tomatoes, now?? I LOVE THEM. My tastebuds were no longer as desensitized to great and healthy foods.
This seems interesting. I was searching for benefits of apples and stumbled across this. Since it’s autumn and our garden is full of organic and delicious apples, i think i’ll try it. I will let you guys know how it goes. :)
